3 new planets discovered could harbor life,,

All are approximately Earth-sized and have could have Earth-like temperatures.
Three more potentially "Earth-like" planets have been discovered only 40 light years away. Researchers using a telescope at ESO’s La Silla observatory in Chile have identified three Earth-sized exoplanets orbiting a star. 
Researchers believe that the planets have temperatures ranging from Earthlike to Venuslike. They orbit their host star similar to how Earth orbits our Sun with periods measured in Earth days, not years.
“With such short orbital periods, the planets are between 20 and 100 times closer to their star than the Earth to the Sun,” said Michael Gillon, lead author of the research paper. “The structure of this planetary system is much more similar in scale to the system of Jupiter’s moons than to that of the Solar System.”
Last year, Dr. Nick Siegler, Technology Manager for NASA’s Exoplanet Exploration Program, joined Larry King Now and explained that there are over 200 billion planets in our galaxy alone. He also says that the odds are “so high” that life exists on at least one of these planets.

Transit of Mercury 2016: today's celestial event - as it happened

Mercury has now crossed the entire face of the sun and brought to a close the 2016 transit of the smallest planet in the solar system. The images astronomers have taken today have been truly breathtaking. I hope you enjoyed them as much as we did here on the (somewhat geeky) science desk. As  Dr Marek Kukula , public astronomer at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich, put it, the transit is a special event: “It’s a chance to feel you are really part of the solar system in motion.” Thanks to all who watched with us. Leicester’s Buddhist Monk connection made them winners of EPL.

The Buddhist Thai Monks first recorded romance with Leicester City was in September 2014 when the team’s owner flew them to England before a game with Manchester United, which the EPL champions won 5-3. They were well received by the team and the then coach, Pearson said they were welcome every week. David Nugent and Verdy wore Buddhist necklace after the victory while some were also prayed for. The monk who has blessed Leicester City’s players and stadium said he prayed deep into the night as the Foxes pulled off one of the biggest ever sporting shocks.
